Carmel-by-the-Sea previews two days of council meetings with housing element, water allocation and emergency plan on the agendas

Carmel-by-the-Sea city officials used a community vlog to preview a two-day series of council meetings that officials said will include the city—s housing element, water allocation items, a car-week after-action report and the emergency operations plan.

Speakers urged residents to review the meeting packet in advance; one host described the housing element submission as "a big daddy," and noted the council will hold back-to-back meetings that will generate a large packet of materials. "The entire housing element is in there," a speaker said.

The organizers said the first day will follow the city—s usual consent and agenda format and will bring back items on water allocation that council members provided direction on at a recent meeting. The car-week after-action report will be presented by Chief Trier. The emergency operations plan, described in the vlog as a substantive document, also appears on the agenda.

A separate meeting later in the schedule will revisit the housing element and include a discussion about pickleball, which the speakers identified as a recurring item. Presenters repeatedly encouraged residents to read the packet before the meetings to be prepared for discussion.
