The district’s HIB (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying) coordinator presented the annual self‑assessment that schools must complete under New Jersey law. The self‑assessment covers eight indicators — including programs and approaches, training on HIB policy and procedures, curriculum and instruction, personnel, incident reporting and investigation procedures, and reporting accuracy.
The coordinator said each school compiled evidence to support its scores, which the district consolidated and certified for submission to the New Jersey Department of Education. The district reported average scores by indicator: 9 of 9 for programs/approaches; 14 of 15 for staff instruction and training; 6 of 6 for curriculum and instruction; 9 of 9 for HIB personnel; 6 of 6 for incident‑reporting procedures; 12 of 12 for investigations; and 5 of 6 for reporting. The district total reported was 74 out of a possible 78 points.
The presenter explained that the state reviews submitted self‑assessments and returns an official HIB score after verification; the district will post the state‑verified report on its website when it is returned. The coordinator also emphasized ongoing staff training, parent engagement and documentation of evidence as part of the submission process.
Board members thanked staff for the work and the district said it would address improvements where appropriate. No formal action was taken at the meeting on the HIB report; the presentation was informational and the required state submission will proceed.
