Council refers "micro community in each district" resolution to three committees, sets Nov. 12 return

Councilor Jamie Cassett, the sponsor, said staff requested more time and proposed referral. Councilor Michael Garcia urged committee consideration for proposed amendments, saying, "let's do the work in the committee," and the council agreed to send the measure to Public Works on Monday, Nov. 3; Quality of Life on Wednesday, Nov. 5; and Finance on Monday, Nov. 10, with the item returning to the governing body on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The motion to refer was seconded and carried on a roll-call vote. Clerk roll-call indicates affirmative votes from Councilors Travis, Lee Garcia, Michael Garcia, Romero Worth, Cassett, Castro and Mayor Weber; Councilor Lindell was recorded as temporarily absent at the time of the vote. The council discussion emphasized moving amendments through the committee process so the governing body can consider a refined ordinance when it returns.
