The Dysart Unified School District governing board approved an annual staffing agreement with Educational Services, Inc. (ESI) to support a phased‑retirement rehiring option that allows experienced district employees to continue working beyond retirement.
District presenters said the agreement is an annual requirement and allows employees who qualify for phased retirement to be rehired through ESI. The district reported that historically about 16 employees per year applied to use the program; this year more than 40 employees had applied and more than 150 attended a recent informational meeting. Staff said rehired employees are eligible to receive pay but are not on Dysart's employee benefits; retirees who wish to continue coverage may purchase COBRA or pursue other private options.
A board member moved to approve the ESI staffing agreement and authorized the assistant superintendent for human resources to sign the agreement and affiliated documents; the chair announced "Motion carries."
