Martinsville board approves $58,500 bid for wastewater demolition work

The Martinsville Board of Works and Safety voted Oct. 14 to accept Gentry Demolition LLC’s low bid of $58,500 to perform demolition work tied to the city’s wastewater facility. City staff recommended the award after reviewing bid documents and finding the contractor’s paperwork in order.
City staff member Mister Oakes told the board the contractor was prepared to begin work the next morning and already had equipment staged. “Everything is in order. They are ready to start tomorrow. He's already got trucks and stuff lined up. We're gonna open the gates at 07:00 and they'll get going,” Oakes said.
A board member moved and another seconded acceptance of the recommendation. The motion passed on a voice vote.
Staff indicated they will have contract documents executed and ready for signatures and will coordinate site access and any required pre-construction steps.
