The Seaford Mayor and City Council voted unanimously Oct. 28 to award the bid for a one‑ton service truck with snow plow to IG Burton (Berlin Chevrolet) for $87,656.
Public Works Director Burley Meares told council four bids were received and recommended the low bid without a trade‑in; he said the department prefers to keep the existing truck until the new one is available and then sell the old unit directly. The city had budgeted $100,000 for the purchase and staff said the low bid falls within that amount.
Councilman Alan Quillen made the motion to award the bid; Councilman Orlando Holland seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff indicated they will proceed with the procurement and attempt to sell the existing truck separately after the new vehicle is delivered.
