Mount Pleasant introduces three new parks and recreation staff

The Mount Pleasant City Commission on Oct. 27 introduced three new staff in the parks and recreation department.
Phil Biskorner, director of parks, recreation and public spaces, introduced Mason, the department's new sustainability coordinator. Biskorner said Mason graduated in May from Central Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies and a minor in anthropology, spent two summers with the city as an intern focusing on building energy efficiency and climate-change resiliency, and worked on sustainability programming at Central Michigan University.
Biskorner also introduced Patty Haines as the new PEAK office professional. Haines holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Utah State University and has eight years' experience as a literacy, math and ESL tutor. Lastly, Biskorner introduced Andrew Rybrot as the new recreation coordinator. Biskorner said Rybrot previously worked for the city in seasonal park maintenance and the farmer's market and has experience as a recreation programmer in Battle Creek and Howell; he holds a bachelor of applied arts in recreation, parks and leisure services from Central Michigan University.
The introductions were presented as informational items during the meeting; there was no separate vote taken on the hires at this session.
