Leland Theriault, representing Lake Community Arts, told the Lake County School Board on Oct. 27 that the organization will host Young People's Concerts with the Orlando Philharmonic this fall and is finalizing transportation funding to bring students from South County.
Theriault said there will be two performances at Lake Mineola High School on Thursday and two performances at Leesburg High School on Friday, with a VIP reception at 9:30 a.m. at Lake Mineola High School before the Thursday morning performance at 10:30 a.m. She said each concert lasts about 45 minutes.
She thanked local partners including Disney, the Florida Theatrical Association, Mount Dora Community Foundation, the Logan Foundation and Cindy Brown and said the group is still working with the Community Foundation of Southlake to finalize transportation funding. "We have only $4,000 left to raise for all of the costs of this event," Theriault said.
Theriault also described recent and planned arts-education work: a Sept. 12 countywide professional-development day for music teachers focused on classroom integration and pathway alignment, and a March 6, 2026 districtwide professional-development day for dance, music, theater and visual art. She invited board members to a community choir concert on Nov. 22 in Claremont at 5 p.m. and noted weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays from 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Theriault left business cards for board members and asked the board to contact Lake Community Arts with questions or offers of support.
