The mayor has nominated Bonnie Glenn to serve as director of Seattle's Office of Police Accountability, the council announced Oct. 28. Council member Kettle said Glenn has served as interim director this year and previously was the agency's deputy director.
Under the accountability ordinance cited by the council, the council must act on the appointment within 30 days or the appointment will be deemed confirmed. Council member Kettle said the council will hold a confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 12 during a special meeting and intends to vote that day.
Kettle said the council will solicit written questions to be answered in advance of the hearing and asked members to submit questions to her or her policy director, Brent Lowe, by noon on Friday, Nov. 7, so that the nominee can provide written responses ahead of the Nov. 12 meeting.
The announcement is procedural; no confirmation vote occurred on Oct. 28.
