Director reports Ottertoberfest drew several thousand attendees, revenue totals pending

During the Parks Committee—s informational director—s report on Oct. 29, Parks Department staff said Ottertoberfest, held the previous weekend, had a strong turnout and preliminary revenue from the event is still being compiled.
"We had a really good turnout. It was a nice day for it. We had some interesting activities that aren't kind of normal activities that we have at the sanctuary. So there was a good turnout of probably several thousand people," the Parks Department staff member said. Staff said final revenue totals would be provided at a later date.
Committee members exchanged informal remarks about the event, noting weather and concurrent community activities contributed to attendance. The discussion included anecdotal references to activities such as animal exhibits and a dunk tank.
A motion to receive the director—s report and place it on file was made and seconded; the committee approved the motion by voice vote. The chair said items passed by the committee will be recommended to the Common Council for final action at its Nov. 11 meeting. The Parks Committee—s next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 19.
