Parks committee approves Bobcat L28 loader purchase after correcting vendor quote

The City of Green Bay Parks Committee on Oct. 29 approved the purchase of a Bobcat L28 articulated loader with broom and snowblower attachments, authorizing $63,744.30 to come from leftover bond funds.

Parks Department staff presented the item and said the agenda packet listed an incorrect total of $74,081.82. “That is not accurate,” the staff member said, adding the corrected lump sum is $62,536.79 and that, after substituting a smaller custom 50-inch angle broom, the total requested for approval is $63,744.30. The staff member said the smaller angle broom costs more because it is custom-made to navigate street trees along sidewalks.

The presenter said the loader will be used for clearing sidewalks around City Hall and to support an expanded snow-removal program since the city acquired the Press-Gazette building. The staff member said the purchase was quoted through a cooperative (source) contract and recommended buying from Bobcat Plus Inc., noting past purchases from that vendor.

A motion and second were recorded to approve the purchase; the committee voted by voice and the chair stated the motion carries. The motion did not identify a mover or seconder on the record, and no roll-call tally was provided.

Staff said the item is also included in the city—s five-year capital improvement plan for a 2026 bond request; approving the purchase now will reduce the amount sought in that future bond request by about the same amount, staff said. The presenter said a clarified, itemized quote will be included in the council packet.

Action on the purchase will be forwarded to the Common Council for final approval at its Nov. 11 meeting, as part of the committee—s regular recommendation process.
