The Department of Public Works provided a verbal report to the Improvement and Services Committee on Oct. 29 covering operational activities and upcoming public events.
Staff said leaf collection was underway with volumes not yet high. The sign shop has been busy with striping at the Shawano and Taylor roundabout and preparing signage for Country Club Road, which is scheduled to open with a ribbon cutting staff described as taking place at 3 p.m. Thursday (staff indicated the event is coordinated with Alder Hinxus). The department expects a mill‑and‑pave program ribbon cutting on Nov. 5 highlighting a District 12 location.
Staff also reported the department will be able to accept credit and debit card payments by the end of the week for in‑office and phone transactions, which staff said will improve customer service and reduce the need to send customers to the clerk's office.
The committee moved to receive the director's report and place it on file; the motion was seconded and approved. The committee noted that three participants had been in the virtual waiting room and offered to open the floor if anyone wanted to speak on earlier items before adjourning; the meeting then adjourned.
