Staff presented a construction estimate of roughly $12,000–$15,000 to install stop signs and the required stop bars and to modify paver ribbon curbing to meet the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards. Because the work requires altering the paver ribbon and adding the stop bar, staff estimated 3–5 days of road closure for concrete and paver work.
The downtown improvement board (DIB) offered to help pay for the installation; commissioners discussed splitting funding between the DIB and the CRA rather than using the general fund. Commissioner Hughes moved to approve the four‑way stop with funding sources other than the general fund; commissioners approved the motion 5‑0.
What's next: Staff will coordinate with the DIB and CRA on funding commitments, finalize a written quote and schedule the work to minimize disruption.
Quoted from the hearing: "It was probably 12 to 14,000. And one of the issues is because of the pavers, we have to come in and make modifications to what is called the ribbon curb," staff said.
