Summary
Commissioners and staff adjusted upcoming workshop dates, moved the housing workshop off Nov. 3 to a December in-person meeting, and agreed to combine two virtual workshops into one on Nov. 17.
Commissioners and staff adjusted the schedule for several upcoming workshops and asked staff to prepare background materials for a discussion about city and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) property-disposition processes.
Commissioner Granger told the group that Housing staff needed more time to prepare and that Miss Clark was not available on Nov. 3; he suggested moving the housing workshop to the first commission meeting in December and holding it in person. "I think my suggestion might be maybe to move that to the first meeting in, the first meeting in December, if that's agreeable," the commissioner said.
Staff confirmed Nov. 3 would instead be a virtual session focused on stormwater and the special events ordinance and agreed to move the housing workshop to a later in-person date to allow Housing staff additional preparation time.
Staff also flagged a busy week in mid-November with multiple meetings and several commissioners attending the National League of Cities. To avoid three consecutive nights of meetings, staff recommended combining two planned virtual workshops into a single workshop on Monday, Nov. 17; commissioners present indicated no objection.
On property disposition, staff said the combined workshop would include discussion about disposing of property and aligning the citys processes with those of the CRA. A commissioner asked whether staff could provide a compiled list of inquiries and contacts about specific parcels (referred to in the discussion as "P threes"). The staff member replied, "I'll have I'll have a list of that by the November 17. Yes, sir. For sure. A master list, and I'm gonna to the best of my ability, I'm gonna go back in those emails... My plan is to have that list ready, before that so I can disseminate it in advance of that workshop, and we can discuss it. Absolutely, sir." The staff member referenced specific outreach around Chapman Park as an example of material they would review.
Logistics: staff reminded commissioners the next city commission meeting would be an evening meeting and that the clerks office would circulate the finalized agenda on Wednesday. The staff member also reported that Room 10 reconstruction following a flood is nearly complete and staff are moving back into the lower level to resume use of that facility.
No formal votes or motions were taken during the workshop; commissioners and staff agreed on the scheduling changes by consensus during the discussion.
