Council reviews road deterioration, hears contractor recommendation for mastics before resurfacing

Staff and council said they will evaluate a five-year plan to address roads in sections such as Aston Oaks and Stratford, and they discussed grant eligibility and potential borrowing to cover estimated multi-million-dollar costs for comprehensive repair work.
Council also discussed winter maintenance impacts: cupping and uneven surfaces increase wear on plows. Staff said many streets in older parts of the village have been resurfaced in the past decade while several roads in Aston Oaks have not and therefore present higher near-term needs.
Council asked staff to prepare cost estimates and a multi-year prioritization for next year’s budget discussions; no appropriation was approved at the meeting.
