The Sun City Foundation reported a growing need for holiday assistance and other support. A Foundation representative said the program served roughly 60 families last year and is on track to exceed 100 this year.
Foundation volunteers are running a "Seniors for Santa" card drive: members take a card with a $25 gift-card request, return it to the corporate office or participating rec-center desks, and the Foundation distributes the cards to households below the poverty line to pay rec-center fees or for food. Organizers encouraged members to pick up and return cards and to donate to the foundation’s raffle baskets and holiday fundraising events.
The Foundation also reported receiving a grant from Desert Diamond Casino for more than $17,000 and said donated wheelchairs were provided to aid pool access for people with mobility limitations.
Speakers urged club members to publicize the card drive, support the raffle gift baskets and help the Foundation stretch limited resources as demand grows.
No formal approvals or budget motions related to the Foundation were recorded in the meeting minutes; speakers framed the update as a fundraising and community-support appeal to club members.
