The Orting City Council authorized the mayor (or designee) to execute a change order with Quigg Brothers Inc. for $77,417.03 to cover additional work on the emergency evacuation bridge project.

Councilmembers said the work is being scheduled to avoid an additional closure by applying the sealer while lanes are already closed for other work. Councilmember Tracy said staff explained crews need to spray certain areas that will be inaccessible later, and applying the sealer now prevents a second closure. Councilmember Moore described previous discussions and said he had no further questions.

A motion to authorize the mayor to execute the change order was made and seconded; the council voted 7–0 in favor. The contract amount as stated in the motion was $77,417.03 and authorization allows the mayor or his designee to finalize the change order on the city’s behalf.

Staff will proceed with contracting and scheduling to complete the additional sealing work during the pavement closure to minimize additional public impact.
