Mohave County sets Jan. 8 public hearing for CDBG regional applications

Jamie Bernier, division manager for Mohave County Housing Authority and Community Services, announced a public hearing on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Saguaro Conference Room at the county administration building, 700 W. Beale St., Kingman, Arizona, for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) regional funds administered through the Arizona Department of Housing and HUD.

Bernier said CDBG regional account funds are intended for projects that benefit low‑ and moderate‑income persons, address slum and blight, or respond to urgent community needs. She stressed that, per the Department of Housing handbook, participation at the public hearing and presentation of the proposed project are required for an application to be considered.

Bernier said Mohave County will circulate a public‑hearing flyer at county offices and on the county website, and will distribute pre‑application materials and offer assistance to prospective applicants at its Kingman, Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City offices.

Why it matters: CDBG awards are a major federal resource for local infrastructure, housing and community‑development projects targeted to low‑ and moderate‑income communities; missing the required hearing can render an application ineligible.
