Resident urges Radford to study city-water connections for homes on West Rock Road

Regina Meredith, who owns property on West Rock Road, told the Radford City Council she and her sister have repeatedly requested city water connections for homes that were annexed into Radford years ago.
"There are currently 5 single family homes sandwiched between these properties," Meredith said, and a sixth house under construction was already denied access to city water and will need to drill a well. She noted that the property was purchased by her family in 1962 when it was part of Montgomery County and later annexed by Radford.
Mayor Horton asked city staff to review the cost of connecting any or all of the properties to city water and to follow up with Meredith; staff asked Meredith to share contact information so staff can return specifics.
The council did not make a formal motion on the request but directed staff to examine potential costs and to report back.
