Oakwood Schools Foundation awards $7,500+ in fall grants; collaborative grants total more than $12,000

Maria Beecher, trustee and grants committee co-chair for the Oakwood Schools Foundation, told the board Oct. 13 that the Foundation, together with the Oakwood Fine Arts Booster and the high school and junior high PTOs, supported seven teacher-led initiatives in the February grant cycle with more than $12,000 in combined support.
Beecher said the Oakwood Schools Foundation funded three and a half initiatives with more than $7,500 from Foundation donors. She noted the collaborative process has funded more than $1,000,000 in grants since 1991 and encouraged teachers to apply in the winter grant cycle opening Nov. 17.
Beecher presented a check to the board and thanked donors for enabling the grants, saying the funds are intended to enrich students' academic experiences and support innovative teacher-led classroom projects.
