Court approves Val Verde jail services contract and three‑year commissary agreement for county jail

Jeff Leatha presented an interlocal agreement to house Val Verde County (Del Rio) inmates at Kerr County facilities at a negotiated rate; commissioners approved the contract and authorized the county judge to sign. The item was presented as a standard jail services contract.
Sheriff's Office staff also sought approval of a three‑year service agreement with Commissary Express Inc., the county's vendor for inmate commissary goods and hygiene items. The sheriff told the court the contract returns 31% to the county under the proposed terms. The sheriff said the vendor has served the county since 2009 and was the only bidder during the advertised solicitation period.
Both items were approved unanimously by the court. No further conditions were recorded in court minutes.
