Chairman highlights AED installations, Narcan placements and community events funded by opioid settlement money

In the chairman's report, county leadership said maintenance crews installed 15 new AEDs, several new wall mounts and eight "smart safe" cabinets with automatic 911 notification and camera capability across county facilities. He also said the county will provide Narcan at every location where an AED has been installed.
The chairman noted senior-center enrollment is increasing — "our oldest being 99" — and reminded residents that early voting for the Nov. 4 election continues through Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. He announced the Madison County Public Safety Toy Ride and Car Show will be Nov. 8 at Memorial Park in Danielsville and a county fall recycling event (document shredding, battery and medication take-back) is scheduled for Nov. 15 at the government complex.
Why it matters: The AED and Narcan installations change the county's emergency-response infrastructure and were paid for using settlement monies, which the chairman emphasized was at no cost to the county. Event dates and early-voting reminders are time-sensitive information for residents.
