Redevelopment staff reports progress on establishing Redevelopment Area 3, plans bilingual outreach and blight study

Redevelopment manager Tracy Reich reported that Redevelopment Area 3 recently cleared key process steps and that staff are preparing outreach and technical materials needed to complete a blight study and draft plan.
"We were in front of planning commission in August and received great support from that," Reich said, and she told the agency the RDA board and city council later passed the item. Reich said staff are assembling a checklist and schedule for the blight study and have produced a one-page flyer in English and Spanish to leave with property owners when field staff are in neighborhoods.
Reich said staff plan to coordinate public outreach with neighborhood services and Ward 3 and that, although the statute requires planning and neighborhood meetings after the blight study and draft plan, staff want to "start early and often" with outreach. No formal action or vote was taken on Redevelopment Area 3 at the meeting.
