"She requested that they make a written request... and that we have very strong record keeping, like, to show where the money was spent," Elsa said summarizing staff guidance on legal and accounting expectations.
Commissioner Angie Jones moved to provide $4,000 as a one-time contribution; the motion was seconded and carried with Commissioner Kelly abstaining. The commission directed staff to work with the historical society to ensure paperwork and recordkeeping meet municipal requirements before funds are disbursed.
Staff and the commission emphasized this would be a short-term contribution, not an ongoing annual commitment, and encouraged the society to pursue legacy donations, fundraising and grants to close structural funding gaps.
