The St. Lucie Public Schools Board of Education voted by ranked ballot during its Oct. 28 work session to name the Western Grove K‑8 campus “Tradition Lakes K‑8.” Dr. Leslie Wilde explained the naming process, saying a community committee of 15 produced 34 initial suggestions and recommended three finalists; board members then completed rank‑order ballots at the meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Prince collected and tallied the ballots and announced that every board member selected the same first choice: No. 1, Tradition Lakes K‑8. Dr. Wilde said the committee included community members and that Principal Latonya Green had facilitated the local process. The board did not record a roll‑call vote on a motion at the workshop; the naming result was announced from the tallied ballots and described as unanimous.
Staff will update signage and return any required documentation to make the name official in district records. No additional policy or procurement action accompanied the naming at this meeting.
