Town launches solicitation webpage and permit process; ordinance effective Nov. 1

Chris Pettit briefed council on the town's new solicitation webpage and permit process and asked staff to share the site on social media. "It gives not only, the rules and regulations for anyone that is looking to get a solicitation permit... but it also outlines all of the opportunities that our citizens have to say no to solicitation," Pettit said, directing listeners to fortmillsc.gov/solicitation.
Staff explained the website includes instructions for residents who want to opt out of commercial solicitation (a mailbox sticker) or all solicitation (a window/door sticker), and that the ordinance and permitting process are not effective until Nov. 1 to give staff time to produce forms and application workflows. Council asked staff to coordinate outreach to homeowners associations and to publicize the new resources on social media.
