Pinole — Estrella Silva, a UC Davis intern serving as the city’s ADU outreach and implementation intern, briefed the City Council and the public Oct. 21 on an outreach campaign to increase awareness of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and to support homeowners pursuing ADU permits.
Silva summarized a multi-phase work plan: baseline research; outreach and materials development; pop-ups at farmers markets and community events; an ADU webinar scheduled for Oct. 23; and follow-up homeowner support, including fast-track and amnesty program materials for preapproved ADU plans. Silva said engagement has shown high curiosity about ADUs but low baseline familiarity.
The outreach uses community pop-ups, a survey for homeowners, renters and designers, and social-media and PCTV promotion to expand awareness. Silva said the next steps are to complete the webinar, analyze outreach survey results, and finalize ADU materials so staff can host additional workshops and make materials available on the city website.
Councilmembers thanked Silva for the work and asked about the webinar recording and distribution; Silva said the webinar will be recorded and posted on Pinole Speaks and on the ADU web page.
