BOE approves four non-appearance property tax petitions on consent

The Board of Equalization voted Oct. 21 to adopt joint recommendations resolving four non-appearance petitions handled by the State Assessed Properties Division. Jack McCool, chief of SAPD, told the board the petitioners cooperated and provided additional information that allowed staff and petitioners to agree on recommendations.
McCool said the agenda included one petition for penalty abatement, two petitions for reassessment of 2025 unitary value, and one petition that combined reassessment and penalty-abatement requests. He asked the board to adopt the joint recommendations.
Member Vasquez moved and Vice Chair Lieber seconded the motion to approve the consent matters. Miss Cicchetti called the roll; Chairman Gaines, Vice Chair Lieber, Member Vasquez and Controller Cohen recorded ayes and the motion passed. Member Schaeffer was not present for the vote.
Action recorded: the board adopted the SAPD joint recommendations and closed the matters cited on the consent calendar.
Legal note: the agenda item stated contribution-disclosure forms were not required for the item pursuant to Government Code 15626.
