Mayfield Heights City Council unanimously adopted three emergency resolutions on Oct. 27, authorizing the mayor to buy a new Chevrolet Tahoe for the service department, approving a lot consolidation for Hillcrest Hospital, and authorizing payment to repair a front-end loader. All votes were taken by roll call, with every member voting yes.
The council approved Resolution 2025-53, authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract with Classic Chevrolet to purchase a Chevrolet Tahoe for $55,023 for the service department. During brief questioning, Councilmember Talvin asked who would use the vehicle and why the city was not repurposing a former police vehicle. Service staff replied the city rotates vehicles between departments but found previously repurposed police cars were often worn and required more maintenance than it was worth. Councilmembers also asked whether the Tahoe used the state bid package and confirmed that replaced vehicles will be sold on an online surplus site.
Resolution 2025-54 approved a lot consolidation for parcels associated with 6780 Mayfield Road to create a single parcel. The plat for the consolidation was previously approved by the city Planning Commission at its Oct. 6 meeting. The resolution was presented as consistent with prior planning action and approved without substantive debate.
Resolution 2025-55 authorizes a payment of $62,305 to Southeast Equipment to repair a front-end loader damaged in an accident. Staff told council the city had received insurance proceeds to cover the repair costs.
There were no ordinances or additional motions on the agenda. The meeting adjourned after the three votes.
