The Lake Forest School District Board of Education on Aug. 28 appointed Amber Rash to fill a board vacancy effective the date shown on the record and administered the oath of office during the meeting.
A motion to appoint Rash was moved and seconded and carried 4
0 to 00 at the time of the vote. Board members said they reviewed four applicants and selected Rash for her longstanding ties to the district (class of 2009), volunteer activity including on parent and principal search committees, long-term service as a high-school cheerleading coach and professional experience in finance and nonprofit fundraising. The board described the choice as difficult because all four candidates were strong.
Following the vote, Rash repeated the oath of office, swearing to support the Constitution of the United States and the laws of Delaware governing public education and to faithfully discharge the duties of the office of school board member.
Board members welcomed Rash and the district will treat her as a voting member for subsequent items; later votes in the meeting were recorded with a full five-member board present.
