On Oct. 30 the Select Budget Committee discussed SPD 110, which requests a report from the Seattle Police Department on implementing a dedicated customer-service line and evaluates existing service tools, scope and the financial support required. Greg Doss summarized the slide request; Council member Hollingsworth sponsored the amendment and said the intent is to help residents get responses and follow-up on police reports without routing every request through council offices.
Hollingsworth said the study is intended as a stopgap while the city balances officer staffing levels and suggested the line could improve coordination and efficiency for routine inquiries. Council member Kettle supported the concept and described the value of precinct front desks that are accessible to the public. Council members Juarez, Rink, Saka and Rivera added their names as cosponsors on the record.
The transcript records the study request and cosponsorships but does not include a final committee vote on SPD 110 during the Oct. 30 meeting.
