The Clermont City Council unanimously approved Oct. 28 a piggyback purchase and budget reallocation to acquire an engine unit for the Wellness Way fire station (Fire Station 5). Fire Chief David Ezell told council the vendor’s stock unit meets roughly 95% of the department’s design criteria and can be completed in time for January delivery, aligning with planned hiring for the new station.
Chief Ezell said the purchase would avoid diluting the department’s deployment model by moving an existing unit to the Wellness Way area. During public comment a resident urged passage, saying the apparatus would "help mitigate the danger down there in our area." Mike Carroll, representing Olympus, told council Olympus had donated land for a permanent station site and offered an additional temporary site while construction proceeds.
The council discussed site logistics and thanked Olympus for the donation before approving the motion 5‑0.
