Board members and members of the public raised multiple design, structural and tenant‑safety questions.
Board members asked the applicant to research and present records documenting the historic fire and any subsequent reconstruction; to provide engineering verification that the existing structure can safely support an additional story; and to produce clearer architectural drawings including proposed cladding, window alignment, closet layouts and a parapet detail to better integrate the new story with neighboring buildings. Members also asked the applicant to present a plan for temporarily relocating or protecting current tenants during construction.
The applicant acknowledged the plans contained some missing items (closets and details) and said she would work with an architect and contractor to provide corrected drawings. The board continued the application to the next meeting to allow submission of the requested materials.
No vote to approve or deny was taken; the board requested more complete architectural and structural documentation before any decision.
