The council approved the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee's recommendations for use of 2026 lodging-tax funds after a lengthy September 30 review meeting.
LTAC members and staff presented eight applications and a funding spreadsheet. The council approved the committee's recommended allocations, which include: - Maintaining a $50,000 reserve in the lodging-tax fund. - Allocating 25% of available revenues to the city (rounded to $76,800 for 2026) to be utilized at the city's discretion. - Approving the annual debt service payment for the Recreation Park Improvement Project in the amount of $71,162.50.
LTAC members explained the reserve was retained for contingency (for example, a downturn in lodging receipts during an emergency) and that organizations seeking additional funding may return with supplemental requests. Councilmembers expressed support for the reserve but noted the city could reconvene LTAC for additional recommendations if new event or program needs arise.
