North Beach Artist Guild requests LTAC support for free seasonal art-class weekends

Representatives of the North Beach Artist Guild (Gallery of Ocean Shores) asked LTAC to fund a series of three two‑day free art-class weekends in June, August and October aimed at attracting visitors and introducing them to gallery offerings. The guild said it is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) that charges for recurring classes but would offer the festival-style classes at no cost to students to lower barriers to participation.

Pam Harbaugh and other guild officers outlined an estimated 300‑student reach across the three events and requested funds for instructor stipends, materials for pottery/fused glass, printing (rack cards), light temporary signage and modest marketing. The guild said most instructors are local and that instructors typically volunteer or receive stipends; representatives said they had not previously sought LTAC funds for this recurring community programming.

Committee members pressed on budget lines (event coordination, staff planning time labeled at $1,500) and whether signage or lighting upgrades would be considered capital. Guild representatives said event coordination and registration are volunteer-run and offered to reallocate planning funds to supplies if needed. The committee asked the applicant to provide a clarified budget and explain how each event would be measured in attracting overnight visitors before awarding LTAC funds.
