City Manager reports project progress; Pedro Rodriguez named public works crew leader

City Manager Eric provided updates on multiple capital projects and personnel changes. He said the city saw a savings of just over $4,800 on the striping contract after reallocating striping to Pine Avenue and Charles Avenue projects. The transportation building construction remains on schedule with work to continue toward a targeted December completion; concrete work for pylons was expected imminently.
Eric reported that the new water tower control building structure is finished and staff will move the controls into the new structure, removing the temporary building once systems are online. He provided a photo update of Rosedale to show grass establishment after landscaping work and said Richmond street reconstruction was expected to be completed the week of Nov. 17. Eric acknowledged the disruption to neighborhoods during construction and thanked residents for their patience.
The commission also recognized Pedro Rodriguez as the new public works crew leader; staff noted Rodriguez has worked for the city about 28 years and succeeded Doug Brooks upon Brooks’ retirement. The commission received the city manager’s report by voice vote.
