A resident asked the Sacramento City Council on Monday to direct the council or the law and legislation committee to investigate an allegation that the Sacramento Police Department provided a fake investigation report and a false driver identification in a crash that killed the speaker's father.
"I request the city council or the law and legislation committee to... investigate that Sacramento Police Department provide a fake investigation report and provide fake driver that killed my father," the speaker, Kai On, told the council during the public-comment portion of the Housing Authority meeting. Kai On said they have been attending council meetings and seeking answers since last February and asked the council to pursue the matter.
Mayor McCurdy acknowledged the comment and no immediate action on the request was taken during the Housing Authority session. The speaker sought a response about who the "real driver" was and asked where the original investigation report is; the city did not provide answers during the meeting.
The item was presented as a public comment and not as a formal agenda item; no council direction, vote, or referral was recorded on the meeting record for this comment.
