The Kalamazoo City Commission voted Oct. 30 to approve an amendment to Western Michigan University's application to publicly display fireworks, adding Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, to previously approved dates.

Commissioner Prado moved to approve the amendment to WMU’s July 25 application for fireworks at Hyames Field and Waldo Stadium; Commissioner Wilson supported the motion. In discussion the commission noted the date’s connection to a WMU–Central Michigan University football game; Commissioner Prado said the game is "very important." Clerk (City Clerk) called the roll and recorded "Yes" votes from the named commissioners. The motion passed.

The recorded action adds Nov. 1, 2025, to the already approved dates of Sept. 27 and Nov. 11 for fireworks displays at the two campus venues. The commission did not specify conditions or additional public-safety measures during the discussion at this meeting.
