County project manager reports steady progress on new high school; 250 trees donated for landscaping

A county project presenter updated the Lancaster County Board of Supervisors on construction progress for the new high school, showing photos and a two-week lookahead for site work and interior framing.
"October has been kind to us weather wise, so we've we've we've had a good month, at the job site," the presenter said, summarizing progress on exterior and interior work.
The presentation showed progress on a three-floor academic wing, framing and drywall on upper levels, the main stairwell, the auditorium framing, a planned kitchen and an auxiliary gym. The county noted larger, varied classroom sizes and specialized spaces, including a planned laundry lab and STEM "mecca" lab. Project staff said two dedicated outside air (DOAS) HVAC units and a geothermal well system are being installed; site work on the practice field is underway and glass installation on the building facade has started.
Officials reported that work to develop parking and curbs will begin soon and that paving is expected depending on weather. Project staff also said the Northern Neck Planning Commission and other partners secured a donation of 250 trees for campus landscaping tied to the 250th anniversary celebration.
Supervisors asked clarifying questions about schedule and parking; staff said paving could start in the coming weeks and that curbing and lot work would follow. The board received the update with no formal action required.
