The Town of Merrillville Redevelopment Commission on Oct. 28 approved a professional services agreement with American StructurePoint to produce engineering and design work for a 20-acre park renovation at Liberty Estates West.
The commission voted to approve the agreement after Joe Svetanoff, a town staff member who worked on the procurement, summarized the contract. "There are two aspects of the contract. There is an aspect where they handle the park renovation plan for the 20 acres," Svetanoff said. He added that the firm will handle multiple elements of the renovation plan.
Commissioners asked no substantive questions before a motion to approve the agreement. Councilor Uzelak moved to approve the American StructurePoint professional services agreement; Councilor Xi seconded. The measure passed by voice vote.
The contract was presented as a professional services agreement; the transcript did not state the contract value or a project schedule. Commission discussion did not include specific funding sources for the park work during the meeting.
Staff and commissioners indicated the project applies to the Liberty Estates West area; no further action items or implementation steps were recorded on the record at the meeting.
