Greenfield Union Elementary District introduced Dr. María Álvarez as its new associate superintendent for educational services in a brief district video segment.
Superintendent Laura Cortés opened the segment with an introduction, saying Álvarez has been visiting schools and staff since joining the district. Cortés said, "La doctora Álvarez ha estado muy ocupada, este, presentándose con diferentes diferentes escuelas y el personal," and invited her to describe her background.
Dr. María Álvarez said she began her career as a classroom aide and later spent "casi 15, 18 años" as a teacher. She added she worked as "un coach para maestras," served as a school principal and as a district director before taking the current post. Álvarez characterized her overall experience as roughly 30 years in education.
On priorities for the school year, Álvarez said, "Tengo muchos planes. She identified two of those priorities by name: "empezando con las fortalezas de los estudiantes y los experiencias" and "mirando instrucción rigurosa." She said she plans to focus on aligning district systems in Greenfield with her instructional goals.
Cortés closed by repeating the invitation and thanking viewers.
The segment functions as an informational introduction to Álvarez and a public call for family engagement; it did not include formal board actions or votes.
