Hamilton County to consider Riverview Foundation grant for free Lakeside Live concerts at Chester Frost Park

Madam Clerk read Resolution 1125-11, authorizing Hamilton County Parks and Recreation to apply for and accept up to $30,000 per year for two years in grant funds from the Riverview Foundation for a summer concert series at Chester Frost Park, to amend the Parks and Recreation fiscal year 2026 revenues and expenditures budget, and to sign documents related to the resolution.

Erin Shostak, a resident who said she lives at 4005 Cromwell Road, spoke in support. "This initiative brings people together through music, creating cultural experiences for all ages and strengthening our sense of community," Shostak said, adding that the series would support local food trucks and vendors and position Hamilton County as a regional destination.

Kessler Kaufman of Dynamo Studios described workforce-development programming in Hamilton County schools and said students have applied their classroom skills in professional settings. Kaufman said Dynamo places industry professionals in schools and that students have worked backstage with major touring artists; he noted the program will have visibility at the county fair.

Staff answered commissioners' questions about geographic reach and program structure. Commissioner Mackey asked whether the series would be spread to other parts of the county; staff replied the intent is to create signature events across parks, and Chester Frost Park could host an event targeted to Hixson. Staff also said the grant requires no cash match; in-kind support would come from Parks and Recreation staff.
