County OKs two tier-2 poultry feedlot conditional-use permits with buffers and conditions

County land‑services staff presented conditional‑use permit applications for two tier‑2 poultry feedlots on Oct. 21. The planning commission had recommended approval of both requests with conditions.
The first application, from Charles and Nathan Gruber, was recommended for approval with four conditions: install a barrier to protect wetland boundaries from construction impacts; plant and maintain permanent vegetation surrounding barns; construct a stacking slab before stocking the barns; and ensure at least 25% of manure is transferred or sold. The board moved, seconded and approved the Gruber permit by voice vote.
The second application, from Jordan and Anna Schutz, was recommended for approval with one condition: the establishment of a minimum 50‑foot permanent vegetation buffer around the barns. The board moved, seconded and approved that permit by voice vote.
Land Services clarified that if an applicant withdraws a request in writing after the planning commission recommendation, the application is removed from further consideration and must restart the process if refiled.
