Superintendent Dr. O'Shea presented his annual plan for the 2025–26 school year and the school committee voted to approve it.
Dr. O'Shea framed the plan as aligning school committee goals, the district improvement plan and individual educator goals. The plan's priorities include expanding implementation of Yale RULER social‑emotional learning (including school‑based SEL coordinators and additional staff training), districtwide initiatives on healthy digital habits, continued work to align Panorama (data platform) with PowerSchool for consistent intervention planning, and professional development on Universal Design for Learning via a Bay Path partnership.
A central element Dr. O'Shea highlighted was initiating a review of Longmeadow's graduation requirements and the state's competency determination model now that MCAS is no longer the sole exit requirement. "I feel like this is sort of the, it's the most ambitious, in terms of something that could really shape Longmeadow Public Schools down the road," Dr. O'Shea said, describing the work of defining a locally appropriate competency determination and engaging stakeholders over multiple years.
The plan also calls for continued focus on the middle school design and MSBA deliverables, intentional community outreach (LCTV, school tours, community presentations), and attention to scope control during design to limit unnecessary change orders. The committee approved the plan by roll call.
