The resolution asks the governor and legislature to review whether modern, smaller‑scale nuclear technologies could be feasible for new electricity generation, noting that proponents see nuclear as a potential additional source alongside coal, hydro, wind and solar.
During discussion a commissioner observed that nuclear energy can be cost‑competitive; staff clarified the resolution simply urges a review and does not itself change state law. A motion to approve the resolution was seconded and passed by voice vote.
No cost to the county was recorded for adopting the resolution; staff described the action as returning the form resolution to Sherburne County and expressing the county's interest in the matter.
