Guidance office to phase in SchoolLinks for career and college planning; seniors to finish year on Naviance

The district guidance office announced it will phase in a new college- and career-planning platform, SchoolLinks, intended to replace Naviance for most services.
Guidance staff said the initial rollout will begin with 10th-graders (career-interest inventories and counselor-led lessons) in December; juniors will access college-planning features in conjunction with junior conferences in spring, and seniors will finish the current application season using Naviance before being transitioned into SchoolLinks. The district emphasized that students must still authorize college releases (FERPA waivers) when submitting applications; counselors will continue to guide students in person.
SchoolLinks was described as mobile-friendly and more interactive than the district's previous platform, with features including a career interest inventory, career pathway mapping tied to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, resume builders, scholarship searches and lifetime student access after graduation. Guidance staff said they will upload the district's course catalog and work with SchoolLinks to tailor course-planning pathways so counselors can use platform data during scheduling conversations. The district also noted cost savings versus Naviance.
Trustees and staff discussed concerns that career/college platforms should complement, not replace, personal counselor relationships; guidance said the platform is a tool to support counselor-student conferences, not a substitute for counseling meetings. The office will pilot the system, complete uploads and training this year, and expand use in 2026-27.
