Walnut Grove staff reported progress on the sewer expansion and land-application (sprayfield) work at Thursday’s meeting. Staff said the permitting documentation for the sprayfields is complete, the contractor is installing infrastructure at the sprayfield site, and recent bond inspections produced no deficiencies.
Staff said the city’s contracted field inspector, Rob (PPI/PBI), conducts regular site inspections and documents compliance with bid specifications, including pipe elevations and runoff mitigation. “He’s monitoring construction and then document[s] all so that if there are issues that come up, we can get it addressed before it becomes an issue,” staff said.
The project’s anticipated finish date is July 11, 2026. Staff said they have submitted required documentation and expect the next pay estimate from the contractor soon. Council members asked for confirmation of the inspection scope; staff described the inspector’s role as verifying that construction meets contract specifications and that mitigation measures are functioning.
No citizen complaints were reported from recent bond inspections, staff said. The council received the update and did not take formal action during the public portion of the meeting.
