Erica Rendell, chair of the D128 Foundation for Learning, and executive director Diane Phillips briefed the CHSD 128 Board on Oct. 27 about the foundation's programs, recent financial support to the district and an upcoming fundraiser.
Rendell said the foundation focuses on three programs: Daring Innovation grants to classrooms, support for students in need, and senior scholarships. Diane Phillips summarized the foundation's financial support and told the board that last year the foundation returned $46,000 to the schools in the form of innovation grants, scholarships and student-need funding.
"We had $46,000 that we donated back to the schools," Phillips said, and she described the foundation's growth in scholarship and student-support activity since its founding in 2007. Phillips and Rendell invited the community to the foundation's 12th annual Big Event, a fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Austin's Fuel Room; the program will include a live alumni-parent band, a paddle raise and silent auction.
The presenters said funds raised at the Big Event underwrite the foundation's three priority programs and that attendees can buy tickets or donate via an online link and QR code the presenters provided.
