Officer Presley reported to the Knoxville Beer Board on Oct. 28 that city and ABC compliance checks on Oct. 18 covered 22 businesses; six were found to have sold alcohol to minors.
Presley named the businesses and offense status: Day Air Market (second offense), Magnolia Quick Mart (offense involving a minor clerk; status indicated as an offense), Waggles on Chapman Highway (first offense), Buckethead Tavern (second offense), Brother Wolf on Jackson Avenue (first offense) and Taco Madres (second offense).
Clerk Miss Hopper said two earlier administrative matters had settled: Amelia’s case resolved with an agreed order and a $1,175 fine, and Tupelo Honey was working with the law department on an agreed order. Hopper said the three businesses cited on Oct. 18 will be required to submit updated remedial plans, pay a $1,000 fine and are scheduled for administrative hearings before the beer board next month.
Officer Presley and staff did not announce suspensions at the Oct. 28 meeting; the clerk’s statement indicates administrative hearings are planned to review remedial plans and fines.
