Supervisor Dawn Rowe (Third District) used her district minute to highlight veterans outreach and county services for veterans.
"I’m Supervisor Dawn Rowe, and I represent the Third District," Rowe said. She said Veterans Affairs Director Matt Knox and Deputy Director Demaryus Carmichael bring staff to rural communities so veterans can more conveniently access benefits and claims assistance.
Rowe detailed the schedule: VA claims assistance is available on the third Thursday of every month in Barstow and on the second Wednesday of every month in Joshua Tree. She also said veterans with 100% service-connected disability ratings may be eligible for significant property tax exemptions and directed veterans to contact the office of Assessor-Recorder-Clerk Josie Gonzalez for details.
Rowe said the county will participate in Operation Greenlight during the week of Veterans Day, with county buildings illuminated in green to show support.
